Feisty Females Development Camp
Etty Bay June 72008. th – 9th
Trudy Holt – a level 2 National Advance Surf coach with a long history of being actively involved in Surf Life Saving travelled up from the Gold Coast to help better the girl’s skills in competition. Trudy took the girls through theory and practical sessions helping them better their skills in Surf Sports. Without the knowledge and enthusiasm that Trudy bought to camp it wouldn’t have been the success that it was.
Nelle Van Buuren – a General Practioner and a member of Etty Bay SLSC took time out of her busy schedule to sit down with the participants and explain all about the female body and sport. Participants were given the opportunity to ask all 3 guest speakers about issues they wanted to know about a particular subject. Nelle took the time to create a power point presentation answering every question that the participants had.
Tara Diversi – a Dietician and former member of Ellis Beach SLSC Tara sat down with the girls and educated them on the rights foods to eat at different stages of life. She explained what the differences in someone’s diet should be when they are in training as opposed to when they are not training. She explained what types of food should be consumed when training or competiting. Tara explained what a healthy diet consists of and some of the participants surprised themselves about how much they really new
Also thank you to the Cardwell Shire Council (now Cassowary Coast Council) for their donation towards the camp.
Last but not least I would like to thank the girls who attended the camp and helped me make history. Without the excitement and enthusiasm of these girls the camp wouldn’t have been the success it was. I hope that in the future they will put their hands up to come back to this camp and other as leaders to share their experience.
